Welcome to the site of John Blair Chrise — art director, visual designer, teacher, artist, carpenter, builder, sculptor, and writer.
Launched and lovingly reared in Pittsburgh, PA, John has resided in West Virginia, Southern California, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and Spokane, WA.
Blending a unique array of disciplines including identity design, print design, technical illustration, web design and development, copywriting, 3-D design, product packaging, interior spacial design, video/audio production, event planning and direction, and exhibit design, John brings decades of experience to the table.
In addition to his design disciplines, John is experienced in client account management, public relations, marketing plans, project estimating, new account development, client relations, and business to business sales. John prides himself in his problem solving abilities, thinking outside the normal realm forming alternative solutions to often complex challenges.
A skilled craftsman, John is particularly drawn to projects which require three-dimensional design and construction, including exhibit design, P.O.P. display design, signage, retail space and displays, and is adept at researching and specifying materials, fabrication and finishes. He possesses experience utilizing specialized tools for in-house fabrication, and fully understands materials and fabrication processes working regularly with fabrication contractors.
Starting in 1999, John was asked to teach Graphic Design, all levels, at Hastings College, a private four year liberal arts college located in the Midwest, and continued to instruct and inspire for fourteen years. He especially took pride in teaching traditional disciplines of design and typography first, with a secondary focus on software usage. As a result of helping numerous students reach their design aspirations, John enjoys many ongoing professional relationships with his highly talented past students, often employing and collaborating with them on various projects.
John founded and helped lead the success of Nebraska based Infuze Creative, a full service design, marketing, and advertising firm, which continues to be a leader with regional and national clients. Although John sold his interest in the firm in 2013 prior to relocation to Spokane, he continues to work independently with the firm on a project-to-project basis.
John's passions include carpentry, modern architecture and furniture design, alternative music, and metal work. His diversions include a nomadic lifestyle, personal artistic endeavors, reading, his vintage robot tin toy collection, cooking, home renovation, writing, and the great outdoors.
